Industri Royal - Tacky Skills - Alleycat Records 2008

Imagine, it´s a mild autumn evening somewhere between heaven and hell. Suddenly you meet up with someone unknown and state you´ve something in common after a few minutes. When I met the guys of Swedens Industri Royal it was this evening described above. Swedish people are friendly, gallant and retiring positively. They´re married with charm, brainpower and a marked personality. But we should close all cliches and stereotypes about those absurd tribal handsomeness.

I could quit the review at this point ´cause the great Clashesque nuance catch me and I haven´t any idea to write about. Seriously the Industri Royal understand how to arrange cheesy songs. The opener I Can Keep A Secret starts with a catchy tapping and belongs to me even since the hooks.
In the face of my age I´m related to the lyrics. The tragic and curious matter of adolescence and come of age is the always restless companion of human being and Industri Royal.
Love Me Like A Sting Ray have some great guitar lick in the chorus reminds me on Randy´s X-Ray Eyes. I love the message of the song and believe in the introspective power of Industri Royal´s singer Joel Dunkels. So I´ll find a line and be able to follow through Tacky Skills. Conscious or not, the guys reflect one of the most important moments in life. They cross the inner border from boys to men and leave a 11 track summary for the next generation. Hits like Location manifest the potential behind the this album and hopefully many songs following. The arrangements are straight forward and cheesy melodic in general and I like the decent guitar never appears obtrusive and overdriven high gained.

Interesting for me the break with Former Friends. The song give chance for a rest so I can remind a bit of my former friends before Joel, Erik, Patrik and Jens turn into a little bit different kind to reflect. For me the first songs were more the age of accept, cause you even don´t have any idea about a solution for your questions and so you have to take it as it comes with the light-heartedness of youth. Later you will aks yourself how things going and you enter the times of a so called age of tried understandableness.

I´m searching for some faults and shortcomings hardly and found one maybe but can´t set me back with some unnecessary comments. Industri Royal don´t enlarge my musical horizone but they give certitude that honestly played rock music and friendship, with deep but no hyper coded lyrics, isn´t dead.
